What is Best Buy's return policy?
Best Buy Return Policy doesn’t allow the return of the following items:
- Final Sales and other non-returnable items such as gift packaging
- Apparel that has been used or are missing original tags
- Completed services (related to its Geek Squad services, explained below)
- Digital Content (including games and software that can be downloaded)
- Prepaid Cards (including prepaid cards from Nintendo, AT&T, Disney, etc.
Can you return without a receipt at Best Buy?
You can return via shipping to the Best Buy return department. You can return the item without receipt by attaching your Photo Id proof along with the Invoice form. If you are posting your item then take time to track the returned item. Confirm the returned item before shipping.
Does Best Buy give you money back for returns?
There is no restocking fee if the purchaser is a Best Buy Totaltech™ member at the time of purchase, or if the product is unopened, or if the purchase and the return both occur within: AL, CO, HI, IA, MS, OH, OK, SC and where prohibited by law. Like-new condition
Items need to be returned in a like-new condition. Items that are damaged, unsanitary, dented, scratched or missing major contents may be denied a return. Apparel must not be worn or laundered, and its original tags must be attached for us to accept a return.

Can you return an item that Best Buy keeps in stock?
No, customers aren’t supposed to know that. The official policy, for employees’ eyes only, is that customers can return an unopened item that the store currently keeps in stock without any proof of purchase. This is possible as long as the SKU (Stock Keeping Unit, a number that represents an exact item) is one that Best Buy currently keeps in stock.
Can you return an item without receipt?
A no-receipt return requires an override from a manager, and both the manager and employee will probably tell you that returning an item without a receipt isn’t possible. If you’re allowed a return, don’t count on store credit: “it won’t even be a store credit, but most likely an exchange only,” writes the tipster.
Do you give a refund in store credit?
Refunds must be given in the form of store credit instead of the original payment. It’s imperative to always give store credit in order to turn returners into re-purchasers. That is an entirely reasonable policy, and we even agree with the part about why returns without a receipt should be in store credit only.

To return an item at Best Buy, you must have the original contents and packaging as well as a receipt, the card used to make the original purchase, and a photo ID.
What items cannot be returned at Best Buy without a receipt?
Best Buy asks for proof of purchase for all products in order to process a return. If you are unable to display a receipt or other proof of purchase at the time of the return, you may be able to still return your item by providing the email address tied to the purchase.
Does Best Buy have a 30-day return policy?
Best Buy offers a 30-day return policy or longer only for My Best Buy Elite members, My Best Buy Elite Plus members, and Best Buy Totaltech members. For non-members, most products allow for a 15-day return window from the date you received your item.
