How much does an U-Haul really cost?
Average U Haul Pricing There are a few sites that track the average cost of people's moves using U-Haul. This shows that if you are moving a short distance of under 50 miles, the average cost for truck rental is around $130. If you are moving between 50 and 250 miles, you can expect to pay just under $300 on average.
What is you haul cancellation policy?
U-Haul generally does not charge cancellation fees, and you can cancel your moving truck or trailer rental online or over the phone. U-Haul does request a heads-up of 24 hours or more as a courtesy; it will not charge a cancellation fee if you make your request within this time, and you’ll receive a refund.

What happens if you don't bring uhaul back on time?
The company says it doesn't have any late fees for truck rentals—but it will charge you for returning the truck late. How much? An entire day's rental. So if you agreed to return your $40 truck by 10 a.m. on Thursday, you're technically responsible for another $40 at 10:01 a.m.
Do you have to wash a uhaul before returning?
Check under the seats to make sure you've picked up all personal items as well as taking trash items, like bottles and food items, out. If your truck is dirty upon return a cleaning fee will be tacked onto your charges.
Why did U-Haul charge me a cleaning fee?
A one-way, out-of-town rental usually costs hundreds of dollars more. A Uhaul Corporate spokesman confirmed the cleaning charge, telling us "if additional time and effort is required to prepare the equipment for the next customer, a $25 fee may be assessed."
What happens if you scratch a U-Haul?
What happens if I damage the U-Haul rental equipment without purchasing the optional coverage? As soon as you return the equipment, U-Haul will charge you for the damage you caused, plus lost rental revenue while the equipment is being repaired.

Where do you pick up your equipment?
You pick up your equipment from a rental location near your starting point, then drop it off at a different rental location near your destination. In-Town truck, trailer and/or towing rentals are for local moves or one-time deliveries. You pick up and drop off your equipment at the same rental location.
Can a child sit in front seat of U-Haul?
Young children and those in car seats should not be seated in front seats of U-Haul equipment. Most people in need of a car seat for infants/toddlers while moving, prefer to drive an additional vehicle for their family members in addition to renting a U-Haul truck.
Do U-Haul trucks need lift gates?
U-Haul moving trucks don't need lift gates because our trucks are specially-engineered to move household goods, not freight. Our loading decks are lower to the ground than any other trucks, making them 50% easier to load and unload than typical freight trucks.

U-Haul trucks are not considered commercial vehicles. Therefore, a commercial driver’s license or special endorsement is not required. Exception: In Quebec, you are required to have a Class 3 Driver’s License to operate our 26’ truck.
