They allow you to return your built furniture even if it is not defective. You have the right to return almost any open item within 180 days, as long as it is unaltered, unused, and undamaged. You don't have to provide the original packaging for a successful return.

Can you get a refund for furniture falling apart?

You can’t expect to get a full refund if your furniture is falling apart. Speaking from my own experience, the employees barely seem to look at the items. However, if they notice that the item you’re returning is dirty, stained, damaged or abused, they will not be giving you a refund.

Do you have to disassemble furniture before returning it to Ikea?

You don’t need to disassemble the furniture before returning it at Ikea. Bring in the items as they are, and make sure you bring all the remaining pieces (and the box as well if you still have it). When I brought back my coffee table, it was fully assembled and I still got my full refund back.

Can you sell used furniture?

So you might be better off trying to sell it somewhere else. Selling used furniture can be a little tricky. If you do price it well and sell it in the right channels, you can sometimes even make a profit on it. If you don’t, you may get stuck with your item and needing to dump it on the day you are moving out.
