Today after walking the dog I traveled to Dunham's Sports in Lebanon, PA. With the intent of buying a scope for a .22LR rifle. While there looking at the items I noticed that they were now carrying handguns and had a number of them in the display cases. I asked the sales associate who was assisting me about the handguns.

Two-edged proposition. Multi-level department/discount stores are undermanned and haven't the time for "tire-kickers" "looking at" a firearm that a buyer expects to be new. New to some may include not being handled by 100s of handlers. If the manager designated as seller is the only FFL in the store, it is a foolish "cost-cutting" model.

A lot of big-box "sporting goods" stores are like that. ....which is one reason that I won't buy a gun from such places. ....Gander Mountain, Big Bass Proshop, Dunhams, Dicks, Sports Authority (down south), etc, etc are all assholes when it comes to selling guns.

It's been some time, but I've purchased several handguns at Gander Mt. (used) when the price was exceptional and they have never been snotty or not let me view one, or ask me if I was going to buy it before I held it. How do I know if I'm going to buy it before I look at it and hold it? What the hell am I....a freaking Houdini?

This has nothing to do with Dunham's corporate policy, I guarantee it. Sounds like the manager at that store is pissed 'cause he has to sell evil hand guns now and is going to make it difficult.
