It is nice having 45 days to try something out but there is a catch as with everything. If I do buy anything online I have used Sam Ash and Guitar Center in the past so I can return it in store with no added expenses.

Seems there is a catch for everything. One online store has free shipping, and if you do not like the item, free return shipping. But reading the fine print…. you get store credit for your purchase amount and not your money back.

How could a on line retailer possibly survive long term if they offer free shipping both ways on returns. Just think about it. They would be possibly out of hundreds on any return. How can they make up that loss?

Id say this is just fair. They sell you an item from a warehouse at disxount prices. Its up to you to pay fees to and from your doorstep. If you hand deliver it back, then no shipping fee.

Musician's Friend charged me for both initial shipping and return shipping when I returned an item solely due to me not wanting to keep it. I was, and am totally supportive of this policy as I am grateful for the chance to preview before choosing to keep or return.

Perfectly justifiable. I recently purchased an open item Dean 12-string bass from them with free shipping. After a week and trying it out at a show, I decided it wasn't for me. Called up MF, got an RA# to return for a full refund, packaged it back in the original box and took it to the local UPS store. I cost me $53 to ship back.

Quick PSA guys - Musicians Friend is not processing returns on a timely manner right now. If you order something and return it - be prepared for a 3-4 week wait on the refund. No kidding. I was just told this by a supervisor. If it wasn't a damaged item they are not processing "remorse" returns. Complete BS in my opinion. I get it but...

If anyone thinks I'm overreacting - that's fine by me. Issuing a refund only takes a few clicks, not much else. The reason i'm annoyed was because when i called for the RA number I was told, refunds would be handled as soon as the product arrived. I asked again, are you sure - she said yes - so I spent the $20 to return the item.
